The Artist - Lori L.
At the age of 32, Lori L. became an artist and entrepreneur by accident. Several years ago, she lost her job because she had to spend so much time taking care of her daughter Krystal, who has cerebral palsy. After she saw an artist demonstrate painting on a television program, her brush with painting became a stroke of good fortune. "A lot of people are shocked that I never took classes," the self-taught artist said. "It just comes natural to me."
Soon her art designs were selling around the world in places like Greece, England, Canada, and all over the United States. In the meantime, she started traveling the art circuit. It didn't take long for the endless weekends of travel and toil to get old: Lori L. sought a permanent place to rest her brush and opened a gift shop, Turning Leaf Creations, specializing in her hand-painted, nature-themed items. After a promising year of having the gift shop, the artist started to get into a whole new realm of her talents, by making house calls to people interested in having her designs painted in their homes & businesses.
Many clients were impressed on how she was able to make "problem areas" in their homes disappear by a creative mind and a quick stroke of her brush. She has since closed the gift shop because of the demand for time to paint at homes and businesses.
After a successful career in the world of art, the only thing that she regrets is that she wished she would have known about her hidden talents years ago. "It's amazing to think of where I would be now after the quick success that I've had in such a short time," she said. She just knows that the future is looking extremely bright.
